OreQuest was formed in 1982 by George Cavey. Mr. George Cavey is a senior consulting geologist and the former Vice President for Orko Silver, who discovered the 264 million ounce La Preciosa silver deposit in Mexico. Orko Silver was acquired by Coeur Mining in April 2013 for $380 million. With over 40 years of experience, he has been the President of OreQuest Consultants since 1982. He is past President of the Canadian Council of Professional Geoscientists and was the recipient of the 2004 C.J. Westerman Memorial Award – British Columbia’s highest recognition award for a professional geoscientist for his outstanding and professional contributions. Mr. Cavey was also the recipient of the 2010 Canadian Professional Geoscientist Award – the highest recognition award for a professional geoscientist in Canada. He is currently a member of the Canadian Securities Administrators Mining Technical Monitoring and Advisory Committee. Mr. Douglas Cavey is a diversified project development expert and the current VP of Business Development for Norra Metals Corp. He has over a decade of experience in mineral project management, venture market fundamentals, corporate and business development, and long term project development strategies.
Mr. Craig graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Degree in Geology in 1988. Upon graduation, he served as a project geologist for Cominco Exploration Ltd. and later consulted for Cominco and Kennecott Canada Inc. Subsequently, as the vice president of exploration and corporate development for Wheaton River Minerals in 1993, he was responsible for the discovery of three mineral deposits at Wheaton River’s highly profitable Golden Bear mine and for participating in the project through bankable feasibility and bank financing. He later directed the acquisition of the Bellavista Gold Project in Costa Rica and oversaw its design through bankable feasibility. From 2002 to 2005, he was a member of the management team of Glencairn Gold Inc. that acquired and developed two operating mines in Central America. Mr. Craig was previously President and CEO of Valoro from 2006-2018.
Mr. Smallwood (P. Eng) holds a geological engineering degree from the University of British Columbia and a mine engineering diploma from British Columbia Institute of Technology. He was involved in the founding of Wheaton Precious Metals where, in 2010, he was appointed President and, in April 2011, he was appointed Wheaton’s Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Smallwood originally started as an exploration geologist with Wheaton River Minerals Ltd., and in 2001 was promoted to Director of Project Development, his role through its 2005 merger with Goldcorp. Before joining the original Wheaton River group in 1993, Mr. Smallwood also worked with Homestake Mining Company, Teck Corp. and Westmin Resources Limited. Mr. Smallwood was an instrumental part of the team that built Wheaton River / Goldcorp into one of the largest, and most profitable gold companies in the world. He is now focused on continuing to add to the impressive growth profile of Wheaton Precious Metals. Mr. Smallwood has served on the board of ValOro since 2005. In 2015, Mr. Smallwood received the British Columbia Institute of Technology Distinguished Alumni Award.
Peter Hawley has over 30 years’ experience in the exploration and mining industry. He has worked as a consulting geologist to a large number of intermediate and senior mining companies including Teck Corp, Noranda Inc, Placer Dome Inc and Barrick Gold Corp. Mr. Hawley is the founder of Scorpio Mining Corporation and current CEO of Scorpio Gold Corporation.
Mr. Gorzynski, P.Eng., is a professional geologist and engineer with over 30 years of experience in the exploration, development and operation of mining projects in Canada and internationally. His experience encompasses a wide variety of commodities with an emphasis on precious and base metals, most recently as Vice President of Exploration for IMPACT Silver Corp. where he was instrumental in identifying, acquiring, and expanding the profitable Royal Mines of Zacualpan Silver Mine in Mexico. Mr. Gorzynski also serves on the board of several other junior companies.
Mr. Bruce Winfield, M.Sc., P.Geo, has over 40 years of experience in the mining industry. Following 14 years with major mining companies Texasgulf Inc. and Boliden Inc., he focused on exploration in Central America and Mexico as VP Exploration for Greenstone Resources and Eldorado Gold Corp. leading to the exploration and development of five gold deposits including the Oronorte Gold Mine in Colombia; the open pit, heap leach Santa Rosa Gold Mine in Panama; the 60,000 oz per year La Libertad Gold Mine in Nicaragua; and the 40,000 oz per year San Andres Gold Mine in Honduras. Subsequently as President and CEO, Mr. Winfield has led companies exploring primarily in South America for the last fourteen years, including Defiance Silver from 2012 through 2017.
